Volume PlanArchitect-led design studio

A clear remote process

Design decisions made in the right order.

The process moves from briefing and spatial strategy to architecture, interiors, FF&E, optional procurement, and local handover. Each stage has a purpose, review point, and responsibility boundary.

Remote-firstStructured reviews and written decision records.
Local deliveryCoordination with architects, engineers, builders, and installers.
Scope controlDeliverables and revisions agreed before design begins.
Interior design developed through remote collaboration
One shared project record keeps information, decisions, approvals, and drawing issues clear.

Seven stages

A visible sequence of decisions.

01

Brief and fit

Project facts, priorities, timing, budget, and available material.

02

Research and concept

Context, routines, references, constraints, and the central spatial idea.

03

Architecture

Plan logic, sections, massing, openings, facade, and indoor-outdoor relationships.

04

Interiors

Rooms, materials, ceilings, lighting, joinery, visualisations, and drawings.

05

FF&E

Furniture, decorative lighting, curtains, rugs, art, and schedules.

06

Procurement

Optional quotations, samples, supplier, inspection, and logistics coordination.

07

Local handover

Design packages and clarification for local architects, engineers, builders, and installers.

Project controls

Open the exact process question your project needs.

01

Know who owns every decision before design begins

Architectural concept, interiors, visualisations, FF&E, and agreed design documentation can be developed remotely. Permits, engineering, certification, site verification, construction, installation, safety, and warranties remain with the local team.

↗
02

Give the local team drawings they can interpret, verify, and develop

Volume Plan can issue plans, elevations, sections, details, schedules, visualisations, and specifications within the agreed scope. The local team must verify dimensions, adapt details, coordinate engineering, and produce any required compliant or fabrication documents.

↗
03

Send the information that lets remote design begin with fewer assumptions

Clients should provide available plans, measured dimensions, ceiling heights, window and door sizes, structural information, site orientation, photographs, a slow walkthrough video, utility locations, inspiration, household requirements, budget range, programme, and local-team details.

↗
04

Approve materials through specifications, samples, and a visible decision record

Each selection should record the product code, material grade, finish, colour reference, dimensions, tolerances, edge details, sample status, supplier, intended location, approval date, and approver.

↗
05

Control risk from specification to arrival, not only at the factory door

The procurement plan should identify who specifies, measures, quotes, approves, fabricates, inspects, releases, ships, imports, receives, installs, and handles claims for every product group.

Responsibility map

Global design works when local roles are clear.

Cross-border process questions

How Volume Plan keeps decisions usable across distance.

The process answers the questions that overseas owners repeatedly search before trusting a remote studio with a whole home.
